We tested and loved the famous Pétrusse casemates!
Located in the heart of Luxembourg City, on the Place de la Constitution, get your whole tribe on board to come and (re)discover of 17ᵉ century Luxembourg through a 45-minute guided tour! First used as bastions, shooting ranges, mushroom cultivation and even a wine cellar, these underground galleries have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1994.
Today it is possible to visit them in a somewhat different way: through the rock, different sets of lights and scenographies bring the story to life...a bit as if it were the rock itself who was talking to you! Believe us, it's an unusual experience, one of a kind. It's not every day that rocks hit your chat...
Among the various torches, lamps and sets of lights, a mysterious shimmering golden arch appears; it's actually a nod to the Gëlle Fra which is right above our heads.
Our favorite ? The small projection room showing a film on the history of the casemates, from their construction to today! It is an immersive experience that allows us to imagine ourselves in the Luxembourg of a few centuries ago.
