New creation – Contemporary ballet for 18 dancers The contemporary ballet “Giselle(s)” by Marie-Claude Pietragalla and Julien Derouault draws its power from the theatricality and richness of their choreography. This new feminist vision of romantic ballet reflects the tensions between men and women in our society. It is no longer about Giselle, but about all the Giselle(s) who are victims of betrayal.
What if despite all this anger, love was still alive.
The first Giselle, who became the Queen of the Willis, is the timeless witness to the feminine condition. She has become the queen of an army of warriors who haunt the world of the living and hunt down their tormentors.
In the first act, a series of flashbacks transport us into the intimacy of 5 couples. The Queen of the Willis guides us like helpless spectators in the face of the inevitable drama of these romantic relationships between men and women. The second act is that of the revolt of the women who have passed into the world beyond.
Marie-Claude Pietragalla and Julien Derouault drew their story from violence against women.
