From a young age, Astrid Koemptgen (1956) felt attracted by the Arts. Daughter of painter Roger Koemptgen, she was fortunate to be supported in her talents. Alongside her secondary studies, she studied piano at the Conservatory of Esch/Alzette (Prix supérieur, class J. Braun-Giampellegrini) and continued her musical path at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels (laureate class N. Henriot, A. de Groote). From 1979 to 2017, she taught piano at the Esch/Alzette Conservatory. Mother of two sons, she spent her free time painting. She was elected president of the ARC and held this position for twelve years. She remains a member and regularly exhibits with the ARC-Kënschtlerkrees. She admires the works of great masters such as Rubens, Van Gogh, Chagall, Klimt, as well as Hockney, Hopper, Schiele, Léger, and sculptors Rodin and Claudel. Her paintings are inspired by her emotions, nature, and the beauty in the world.
