Accordions and bandoneons exhibition - Alain Millet
Opening on Friday April 25 at 6 p.m.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alain Millet, originally from Dijon, exhibits a collection of free reed instruments: bandoneons, in libraries, at traditional music festivals and at Argentinian tango.
It highlights part of the German know-how and the fusion relationship between the bandoneons and the musicians of Buenos Aires, it is the opportunity to discover the history of these instruments. The bandoneons are the first cousins of the accordion whose manufacture developed in Germany, from 1850. Little known to the French, except by lovers of Argentinian tango, the bandoneons have belonged for more than a century to the typical formation of tango orchestras. The conceptualization of the first bi-sonorous bandoneon is the work of Mr. Heinrich Band around 1850, and it replaced the organ in poor Lutheran churches, before leaving in the luggage of European immigrants, bound for Buenos Aires.
