Rosine Valentin, an usher at Brussel’s Whalll Palace for 46 years, finds her life transformed since the pandemic of 2020. While the theater is fully booked with Britannicus (in an unprecedented six-hour version), the city imposes a general curfew due to energy-saving concerns, making the last performance impossible. As compensation, an unreleased film, Les pingouins à l’aube or Mlle Frankenstein chez les manchots, is offered to the spectators. Rosine, a dedicated professional, handles the reception, seating, and screening of the film in four reels. Since only Rosine holds the keys and the staff has left, it's now or never to show that theater is her whole life. A quiet, orderly life, withdrawn, waiting, and especially in the shadows. What if tonight, the quiet Rosine let herself go? Les pingouins à l’aube is a show in the spirit of 'The Show Must Go On' but also a tribute to the invisible, and to the cultural world which, like the ice floes, seems destined for imminent disappearance.
