Reading evening with Nancy Dzokoto-Pomenya
The book "Elikem l’Afropéenne" is an autofiction about a young Franco-Ghanaian woman struggling with her identity, searching for her other self. European in Africa, African in Europe, she dreams of a day when the violent encounter between two close yet complex worlds heals and closes. A poignant story about her quest for identity.
Nancy Dzokoto Pomenya grew up in Dole, Franche-Comté, in Eastern France. Born to a Ghanaian father and a French mother, she wanted to give voice to a mixed-race woman in a rapidly changing world. Her reflections on her legitimacy and place in a world that oscillates between the need to be among her own and, at the same time, the desire to venture out and discover her other self. A quest for identity full of twists, where joy, fear, anger, and sometimes love intertwine. The journey of a young woman first through discovering the Ghanaian community in Paris, then through her academic and professional experiences between two continents.
