1 breath, 1000 years, 20 bagpipes, 6 pianos, 20 hours, 840 times, 58 events, 5 days... This year, the rainy days festival dives into «extremes» of all kinds, with a programme that’s playful, unusual, radical, and unexpected !

Many things can be considered extreme, and art has always been a playground and experimentation ground for extremes of all kinds, as well as a space for pushing boundaries.

In this second edition of the festival, developed by Luxembourg composer Catherine Kontz, the most diverse extremes meet and establish new relationships. Modern classics such as John Cage, Morton Feldman and even Erik Satie rub shoulders with new works.

How do we perceive today what caused a scandal decades ago? From the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra in full force with soloists on one side, to the invisible performer of a new piano concerto without a pianist by Liam Dougherty on the other, from 17 electric guitars to a solo harp, this is what these extremes have in store. The extremes are also on the side of the range of ages and careers of those involved, ranging from the great masters of the Arditti Quartet to the young participants of the children's composition workshop.
