Bearing the auspicious name of the patron saint of musicians, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia – Roma, conducted by its new musical director, Daniel Harding, will be accompanying violinist Lisa Batiashvili in Sergei Prokofiev’s Second Concerto, very much marked by the contemporaneous Romeo and Juliet. But the evening will begin with another ballet, Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy, who once had the pleasure of conducting the Roman orchestra – which clearly was born under the best of auspices.
