Claudio just wanted to meet with friends to work on the central idea of their newly founded party: Democracy must return to its roots and the next Prime Minister should be elected by lottery. By involuntary detour, he ends up at Vis-à-Vis, where a university professor tells about Victor Hugo's frantic sexual activities during his stay in Vianden and believes an heir should be found in the Luxembourg genetic pool. As the first lottery-elected Prime Minister is unfortunately a bumbling populist, Claudio makes it his mission, along with the professor, to search for the one who might unknowingly be the great literary genius missing in Luxembourgensia - a quest intersecting with Claudio's migratory family history. Ondugen is a partly surreal, partly melancholic satire, not only solidly sabotaging the image of the national poet but also questioning democracy's place in a world trampling on humanistic values.
