Ondugen is a partially surreal, partially melancholic satire that not only undermines the image of the national poet but also questions democracy's place in a world that tramples humanistic values. Claudio initially plans to simply gather with friends to work on the core idea of their newly founded party: restoring democracy to its roots and electing the next Prime Minister by lottery. However, he finds himself in an unexpected situation where a university professor discusses Victor Hugo's intense sexual activity during his stay in Vianden, suggesting a possible descendant in the Luxembourg genetic pool. While the first lottery Prime Minister turns out to be an incompetent populist, Claudio and the professor embark on a quest for the one who might unknowingly be the literary genius missing from Luxembourgensia, a search that intersects with Claudio's family's migratory history.
