After Hors la loi (20·21) and Pour autres (22·23), the French author and director Pauline Bureau returns to the Grand Théâtre with Neige, a show that is both a tale and a “teen movie”.
Neige, a young fourteen-year-old teenager, is eager to grow up. Her mother is surprised to grow old. When Neige disappears into the forest overnight, there is no other solution than to go and find her. No one will come out of this wood as they entered it. In this tale of today, mother and daughter pursue each other through the ages, the prince is not as charming and the hunter is gentler than what we are told in some stories. Each character is the reflection of an age, of a moment in life. Could the passing of time be the central character of this play?
Pauline Bureau once again deploys her art of storytelling, drawing inspiration from Snow White's motifs in a world of magic mirrors and forests that spans the ages like the seasons. Without fearing magic and wonder, this show, teeming with fantasies, fears and secret desires, continues to represent our world, to address universal questions from an intimate perspective and to unfold astonishing characters beyond our imaginations.
