The political purge in the post-war period - lecture
The lecture begins at around 7:15 pm, before which "Ierzebulli" will be served free of charge. Few eras of Luxembourgish history have managed to unite so many contrasts into a single thematic image as the immediate post-war period. Never were the feelings of victory and defeat, of euphoria and despair, of right and wrong, so close together. Amidst this turmoil, the course had to be set for the future of a small country in the heart of Europe and to ensure the feeling of solidarity and unity for the coming decades. For most of the political actors of the time, this was only achievable by a radical break with the national-socialist traditions and a rigorous cleansing of the entire civil service and administrative apparatus.
