As part of a residency for his upcoming solo clown show "Fantômes", actor and clown Clément Delpérié offers an introductory workshop to the art of clowning, open to anyone interested (experience in theater and clowning not required). Participants will explore through various techniques the complex and powerful path of clowning.
OBJECTIVES:
To discover, through clowning, possible openings of our body and mind, through simple yet challenging concepts like listening, attention to self and others, availability, the right to be in the world, the right to exist and to not be afraid. To step away from the noise of the world, obligations, expectations, the gaze of others, societal expectations, classes, work, and to be oneself, fully oneself, and to have fun, laugh, to laugh at others and ourselves, at our fragile condition.
Acquire theatrical tools: the mask, the body on stage, the technique of breathing, vocabulary, language, laughter, ease, imagination. Pure improvisation work, alone or in pairs, construction of solo or pair passages.
CONTENTS:
- Mask work (work on the creature, what does clown mean, what is the mask, history of clowning, etc.)
- Collective exercises (marching, meditations, attentions, receptions, games, sensations).
- Exploration of the 5 senses and rediscovery of them and how they are essential for the approach of clowning (touch, hearing, smell, taste, sight).
- Directed improvisation, activating the imagination.
- Revisiting improvisation, making choices, failing, being lost but joyful.
