The issues surrounding cycling - conference
Cycling is both a recognized sport, an environmentally-friendly mode of transportation, and a leisure activity. The numerous public policy, legal, and regulatory issues will be discussed at this conference.
Following introductory remarks on the future of cycling by Fränk Schleck, National Cycling Coordinator at the Luxembourgish Cycling Federation, the role of cycling in public policies, especially regarding urban and interurban mobility, will be presented by Frédéric Héran, a transport economist and distinguished urban planner at the University of Lille.
Regulatory issues, especially traffic rules or construction requirements for infrastructure, will be covered by Monique Goldschmit, president of the association ProVelo.lu.
The responsibilities involved in using bicycles in public spaces will then be presented by Georges Ravarani, Honorary Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights.
