On 1 November 2005, the United Nations General Assembly chose 27 January, the day of the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp in 1945, to organise the international day dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Every year, around 27 January, Luxembourg also pays tribute to the victims of the Shoah and other genocides. Around this date, the Zentrum fir politesch Bildung and its partners organise numerous educational activities as well as film screenings and public events.
