Smalt, bone black, or lapis lazuli – these are some of the pigments used for centuries in the production of paint. During this tour, participants can immerse themselves in the world of pigments. Starting with Dutch painting of the 17th century, they will learn more about the origin and use of pigments. Some examples, such as minerals, will be shown, inviting you to guess which color tone comes from which object. But beware, appearances can sometimes be deceptive! The tour continues with French art around 1850 where you need to sharpen your eye. By observing closely, participants can discover unexpected and fascinating things.
