Ravel+ Piano Festival - Janina Fialkowska & Joseph Moog
1 composer | 8 pianists | 4 recital evenings
Each year, CAPE's piano festival spotlights a great composer from the history of the instrument. For this year's festival, it's the turn of French composer Maurice Ravel (1875-1937). One of the leading exponents of French Impressionism, Maurice Ravel's progressive, innovative style is considered a precursor of later avant-garde musical movements. Both his passion for Impressionism and his controversial relationship with Debussy were influential in his artistic development, which would ultimately result in a colorful, sonorous style of composition and orchestration characterized not only by exceptional clarity and precision, but also by a distinctive sonority.
The Ravel+ festival, programmed in close collaboration with German pianist Joseph Moog, will enable everyone to (re)discover this benchmark work, on the occasion of four evenings of high-level recitals. On the program:
- Thursday Jan 30: Lise de la Salle & Jean-Efflam Bavouzet
- Friday Jan 31: Janina Fialkowska & Joseph Moog
- Saturday, Feb 1: Kai Adomeit & Cathy Krier
- Sunday, Feb 2: Severin von Eckardstein & Francesca Tandoi
