To start the year 2025, the idea was to highlight another technique, sculpture through 3 personalities who touch us with their authenticity.
AUGUSTO ANTUNES
Augusto Antunes, a Quercusian artist of Portuguese origin, has been sculpting since the age of 20. His training as a welder initially led him to metal, but a few years later, he discovered Jaumont stone with Michel Mongey in Briey. Music is often present in his works, and Augusto transmits this vibration during his workshops in Roncourt every Tuesday afternoon, behind the town hall.
ROLAND GONZALEZ
Roland Gonzalez, a well-known self-taught artist among the Rombasiens, needs no introduction. His works displayed in the city demonstrate the different materials he skillfully manipulates (metal, Jaumont stone) for nearly 15 years. His garden in Vitry-sur-Orne is a true open-air museum that can be visited by appointment and showcases a large part of his creations, reflecting his numerous inspirations (peace, pollution, the human being...) as he is very sensitive to the events around him. Curiously, he is now experimenting with 3D printing. Here, we can discover colorful and light works that immerse us in a new expertise.
GABY SALOMON
An essential figure in the local artistic world, Gaby Salomon has created numerous works in wood, stone, plaster, metal (mainly round iron) since his very first Tiki sculpture made in 1970 during his military service in Tahiti. This passion has never left this retired steelworker, who is also a great fan of Polnareff. He has received numerous awards, and his works are displayed in the town squares of Rodemack, Hagondange, Gandrange, Marange-Silvange, at the Freistroff castle... and even in the Czech Republic (residency with Sylvain Divo). Due to health problems, he has become rarer in recent years, but he remains a strong person whom we will be very pleased to meet again on this occasion, and who still passionately conducts a workshop every Wednesday morning at the rural center "les saules" in Tremery.
