The materials that make up our landscapes are the source of the questions posed by Guillaume de la Follye de Joux. Industrial waste, abandoned artifacts, or specific organic materials, they provide clues about the situation, identity, and temporality of a place.
Within various contexts of the Grand-Est, from Wattwiller, through Terville to Trèves, he collected these red materials, resembling precious stones to his eyes, testimonies of how our world moves. This exhibition is a tribute to these discoveries, gathered in this showcase of nuances.
Born in 1997 in Lyon, Guillaume de la Follye de Joux is an artist graduated from the École Supérieure d’Art de Lorraine (2022). He lives and works in Metz. His research is organized around the study of wasteland territories, abandoned or transitioning spaces. Ranging from drawing to installation through ceramics and video, his artistic work varies according to encounters with these places where he collects, documents, and engages in situ or delocalized actions to make them speak.
