Following an intense relationship, both a sensual paradise and a dark tomb, HE is at his end, he can no longer, he is drowning, seeking a new form of life in the quest for freedom. SHE tells us their story, from the very first day, as if the power of it alone could shield her from a new fear.
At the center of their marital life is the fruit of the harvest - the dog, denial. It is through this animal presence that the tragedy engulfs us and the story melds. Ahouvi, in Hebrew, means 'my love'.
Ahouvi is a love story between a Frenchman and an Israeli woman, the separation of a couple facing violence and destruction, but also the beauty of a battlefield. To narrate the relationship between Tamar, the Israeli, and Virgile, the Frenchman, Yuval Rozman, author and director, uses confusion, humor, and self-derision. His narrative takes the fierce form of a love story by exposing the internal contradiction and complexity of the two characters.
Yuval Rozman confides: I am a thief. I steal life, mine and others, and mix them with fiction. Fiction, it's my liberation. This text is a tribute, a hymn to life and a true oratorio of pain.
These are the toxic ties, as indestructible as they are destructive, that Yuval Rozman skillfully stages, juggling with devastating humor and insidious tension. These painful romances and their pernicious mechanisms are revealed on stage, these 'loves' that bear only the name due to violence.
