Jahia, 16 years old, is from Burkina Faso and lives in an asylum-seeker center in the Belgian countryside. Without prospects, Jahia nourishes a fear of the future that isolates and prevents her from living. But when Mila, a lively Belarusian teenager, arrives, a friendship quickly forms between the two girls that will change Jahia's life forever. The story of an unlikely friendship between two young girls who must navigate their adolescence in a constant state of uncertainty. Director Olivier Meys addresses their quest for asylum with sensitivity and nuance, highlighted by the magnetic performances of the two main actresses, both newcomers to the screen, drawing upon their own migration experiences to inform their roles.
