Andreja Wirtz presents the research results from her master's thesis on selective empathy towards refugees. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2022 exposed the speed at which European nations can show solidarity with refugees. However, this is not always the case, as demonstrated by the example of the Syrian war. The question arises whether empathy is selective and conditioned by factors such as ethnicity, religion, and culture?
