Behind this holy-nitouche name hides one of the most promising new Brussels rock bands of the moment: a music whose roots draw on everything that independent rock has ever produced in terms of melancholy and communicative arrogance (The Verve, Interpol, Spoon, etc.), up to the recent revival of “lo-fi” indie rock by the American group Bar Italia, all with references to the sixties that range from Godard to the occasional use of a mellotron. Enough to make the name “Bernadette Marie” cool again.
