Marie and Hichem are inseparable. She's from here, he's from somewhere else he had to flee. In the schoolyard, they share their secrets. It's not easy to tell an unusual story for little Hichem. It's not easy for Marie to piece together what the strange words of grown-ups say—exile, refugees, war—with what her friend experienced. A vast fresco emerges through their danced and acrobatic exchanges, a symbol of a budding, borderless friendship. Enhanced by the illustrations of Anaïs Massini and the texts of Aurélie Namur, this sensitive and moving fable tells the story of exile with infinite tenderness and moment-by-moment accuracy.
