An impressive system of fortifications, almost entirely vanished since the Treaty of London in 1867, defended Kirchberg and protected the fortress city. Engineer Vauban, who led the siege works in 1684, crafted a project for the fortress's reinforcement. The museum offers two-hour guided tours to explore these fortifications.
