An unusual trip back in time
We tested and loved the Casemates de la Pétrusse!
Right in the heart of Luxembourg City, on Place de la Constitution, embark on a (re)discovery of 17ᵉ century Luxembourg through a tour lasting around 45 minutes! Used as bastions, shooting ranges, mushroom cultivation, war shelters and haunts for beer festivals, these underground galleries have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.
Today, it's possible to visit them in a somewhat different way: through the rock, various light effects and scenographies bring history to life... a little as if the rock itself were speaking to you! Believe us, it's an unusual, one-of-a-kind experience. It's not every day that rocks talk to you...
Among the various torches, lamps and light displays, a magnificent glittering golden arch makes its appearance: in fact, it's a nod to the Gëlle Fra that's right over our heads. Our favorite? The small projection room showing a film on the history of the Casemates, from their construction to the present day! It's a great immersive experience, and personally, I could have stayed there for minutes :-)
And the good news: the Casemates are open every day of the year (except on December 25th and January 1st).
