As part of its exhibition The Revolution of 1974. From the Streets of Lisbon to Luxembourg, the museum is pleased to be able to host Alfredo Cunha's exhibition currently on view at the Museu do Neo-Realismo (Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal ). This exhibition, curated by the director of the Portuguese museum David Santos, aims to crown the 50-year career of the most illustrious photo-reporter of the Carnation Revolution.

Not only did Alfredo Cunha (*1953) closely follow the beginning of freedom on April 25, 1974, but he also witnessed the process of Portuguese decolonization in Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and -Príncipe, East Timor and Cape Verde. In Portugal, he still covered for the press the beginnings of democracy resulting from the PREC (Revolutionary Process In Progress, 1974-1975), before becoming the official photographer of two presidents of the Portuguese Republic: Ramalho Eanes and Mário Soares.
After a long career as a photographer and artistic director in the image department of several press titles, he currently works as a freelancer and continues to develop various editorial projects since his first publication Raízes da Nossa Força (1972). Our exhibition, organized by themes (April 25 and Decolonization, World, Portugal, Conflict, Religion and Portraits), is accompanied by a catalog published by the Imprensa nacional on the occasion of Alfredo Cunha's 50th career.
