This year, Le Cercle Cité continues its series of screenings of short films and artist films, which will address in a philosophical and original way different aspects of the question of inclusion, accessibility, integration and discrimination. These are very topical debates in a society that on the one hand is becoming increasingly aware of the subject of identity and its diversity, but which nevertheless faces difficulties in adapting to this new awareness. The questions of migration and feminism, the quest for (artistic) identity, the rights of people with special needs, those of people belonging to the LGBTQIA+ group or the challenges of parenthood: the themes related to these debates are multifaceted and affect many of us. The green landscapes of summer in Minneapolis set the scene for this elliptical one-day docu-fiction, presenting a group of artists in their thirties confronted with the realities of work and parenthood. Morning sunlight streams through the windows of an elementary school, where Jacob is mopping the floor. We follow him home and meet his wife and son. Guests arrive for dinner, and tension builds around the table as they discuss the incompatibility of being an artist and a parent. In the tradition of ethnographic film, the intimacy of A Blue Morning gently gives way to the sometimes painful and sometimes pleasurable human conditions. The film—a hybrid of narrative and documentary—leaves tender space for the tensions between being an artist and adulthood. Thanks to the extras who generously put in the work, A Blue Morning offers a candid look at the adult lives of thirty-somethings.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the artist.
