Journée portes ouvertes
Open Day at Train 1900: a journey through railway history
An opportunity not to be missed for train enthusiasts and the curious of all ages.
Discover the secrets of maintaining and operating steam locomotives through guided tours offered by Train 1900 volunteers. They offer a behind-the-scenes look at the railway world as well as the history and operation of the association.
The ProActif workshops will also be accessible for an immersion in the renovation of railway equipment as well as the professions offered by the employment reintegration measure, active on the site for more than 20 years.
Captivating demonstrations of blacksmithing and artistic ironwork will allow visitors to observe these ancient techniques up close.
Curious visitors will also have the opportunity to discover the motorized draisine in action, as well as take part in rail bike races for a dose of adrenaline.
For the youngest, a craft workshop will be specially organized, where they will be able to build and paint their own wooden locomotive. These locomotives will be compatible with BRIO, IKEA, and other similar brands of wooden trains, allowing them to take home a unique and personalized souvenir.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a steam locomotive up close directly on the station platform. Exceptionally, four steam locomotives will be on display: ADI 12 – Hanomag from 1903, AL T3 – Grafenstaden from 1891, Energie 507 from 1946 and Cockerill 503 – John Cockerill from 1920.
