Conference: Edmond Dauchot, photographer of the Ardennes
September 19 PIERRE Sébastien, Director-curator of Piconrue, Musée de la Grande Ardenne If Edmond Dauchot (1905-1978) handled the pen and linocut gouge, it was above all as a photographer that he distinguished himself. The approximately 21,000 negatives preserved at the Musée de la Grande Ardenne, in Bastogne, combine plastic beauty with the strength of the authentic document. These works bear witness to the attachment of a man to his adopted territory, limited to a few square kilometers, between Houffalize and La-Roche-en-Ardenne. The Ardennes and Les Ardennais by Edmond Dauchot are both the setting and the actors of a world that modernity and the great changes of the post-war period were going to overturn. It is indeed the testament of this traditional Ardennes that Dauchot intended to leave behind.
