On the occasion of important recent acquisitions emblematic of the Supports/Surfaces collective, the museum returns in greater detail to this artistic movement by presenting all of its works.

Take stock of the extent of our public collection, particularly rich, diverse and representative of this avant-garde movement and learn how since the 1960s, their pioneers, from Arnal to Viallat via Grand and Pagès, exercised a brief but decisive influence on the artistic landscape in France and beyond.
By radically opposing, on an ideological and aesthetic level, the major trends of their time, by advocating the rejection of traditional supports and by deconstructing the codes of painting, the members of the collective will explore new forms and new gestures. Thus they focus on the very materiality of the medium, probing the qualities specific to the canvas to arrive at unusual works of great inventiveness. Come and discover the figures who in France have audaciously prefigured contemporary art!
