Once upon a time (2003) in a country called Bosnia and Herzegovina, a group of friends decided to form a band. But this was no ordinary group and it did not form under ordinary circumstances.
Local sounds from the Balkans were complemented by musical influences from around the world: ska, punk, reggae, electronica, hip-hop. Yet there was no music industry, few concerts and no space for cultural or political expression among the new generation of connected young people. In fact, the entire region suffered from profound moral and economic stagnation after the war.
From this environment Dubioza Kolektiv was born, not quietly, but kicking and screaming, bringing forbidden questions to the forefront and insisting on being heard. In doing so, they created a phenomenon.
