In Portuguese, Avó means grandmother and is usually abbreviated to “vó”. The “lovó” project aims to use oral history and art to make several voices of Portuguese-speaking grandmothers who live in the town of Esch-sur-Alzette and who have made this place their “home” heard. . :p> Leave The family home gives another dimension to family ties; and For those who leave their home As a family, This core gains even more importance, and The home then becomes synonymous with These internal links. Working with the word “at home” or Home' can therefore begin in the family and around its pillars. :p> To create the link between the house and the city, grandmothers act as the perfect medium, connecting the private and the public, the individual and the collective. They bring family experience to a collective level and, through intangible cultural heritage, they transmit historical and cultural knowledge to new generations. :p> lovó's mission is to make the voices of these Portuguese-speaking grandmothers from Esch-sur-Alzette heard, families from immigrant backgrounds and society as a whole, as holders of cultural heritage intangible, whose know-how and knowledge in terms of traditional practices, folklore and culinary art are constitutive of culture and have shaped the town of Esch over the last 50 years. :p> Audio extracts from testimonies Grandmothers will be presented to the public in the form of audiovisual tours during the closing week of the Esch biennial (September 21 to 28). These nighttime visits will tour the town of Esch, inviting the public to discover light installations created by several visual artists, accompanied by the voice of grannies/Avó! :p> This project is led by a team of researchers in public history at the University of Luxembourg and is co-financed by the Fonds National de la Recherche FNR and Nuit de la Culture. :p>
