Richard Galliano Is the soloist of the most beautiful orchestral tangos, notably the unforgettable Oblivion and Libertango by the Argentinian tango genius, Astor Piazzolla. He swaps accordion and bandoneon for the melowtone, a hybrid of accordion and harmonica In the shape of a large recorder. In the opening, the Orchester national de Metz Grand Est plays a Sinfonietta based on two themes from Mozart, one graceful and subtle, the other dark and mysterious, which the Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos combines to describe "the conflict between culture, represented by prejudices and school rules, and the temperament of the free, spontaneous artist, independent of any theory.
