In Klartraum (Lucid Dream), a composition from 2010, the Japanese Noriko Baba transports the listener to the borders of dreams and awakening, but also of the East and the West. Mosellan Jonathan Fournel, winner of the 2021 Queen Elizabeth International Competition, performs Mozart's Concerto No. 21, a cheerful score illuminated by a slow movement of infinite tenderness. Enough to recharge the batteries before the final symphony of Tchaikovsky, with beauty as great as Despair. The fate that haunts his last scores triumphs there, and Tchaikovsky will die (perhaps a suicide) nine days after having directed its creation.
