Marcellina dreams of marrying Fidelio, her jailer father's new assistant. Florestan is locked in the fortress, whom Governor Don Pizarro wants to destroy. He orders Rocco, Marcellina's father, to dig a grave for The Prisoner. But Fidelio, closely linked to Florestan, is determined to prevent his assassination. - The Met invites you to discover Beethoven's only opera at the cinema, to which Jürgen Flimm gave a captivating production. The score blazes under the passionate direction of Susanna Mälkki, as does the superb cast led by Lise Davidsen.
