LOST IN NATURE – THE CONFRONTATION BETWEEN CIVILIZATION AND NATURE
At the latest since the 1970s and the first ecological movements, cinema has been interested in the relationship between man and nature. Films such as Deliverance (1972), Cast Away (2000), Grizzly Man (2005) or The Revenant (2015) raise the question of the confrontation between nature and civilization by sending their protagonists into the desert, the forest or deserted islands to explore how they survive. How are nature and man represented in these films? At a time when some would like to completely separate humanity from nature, these films remind us of our origins and ultimately raise the question of our survival.
