'A Treasure of Heritage, the Eurometropolis of Metz'
As a continuation of the city of Metz's labelling, the Eurometropolis of Metz has applied to extend the City and Country of Art and History label to the entire metropolitan area. In the meantime, various actions aimed at (re)discovering the heritage in all its forms are being implemented.
The exhibition 'A Treasure of Heritage, the Eurometropolis of Metz,' developed by the Eurometropolis of Metz, aims to raise awareness among residents about the richness of their territory and also make them ambassadors. About twenty richly illustrated panels present nearly 200 heritage elements, well-known or less known, from the 46 municipalities in the area. From the Roman aqueduct in Ars-sur-Moselle to the fortifications of Mont-Saint-Quentin, including Simon Park in Augny, the Pshotte fountain in Marieulles, the fortified church of Saint-Pierre de Mey, the territory of the Eurometropolis holds numerous unsuspected treasures that need to be promoted. This exhibition, intended to be displayed in different municipalities of the territory, is adaptable according to the places where it will be presented. It will be unveiled in its entirety during the European Heritage Days 2024 at the Courcelles Castle in Montigny-lès-Metz. To be discovered in a free visit on Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2 pm to 6 pm. As the exhibition is adaptable according to the host site, the part concerning the municipalities of the Moselle valley, including Montigny-lès-Metz, will be presented in the town hall lobby from September 23 to October 4, 2024.
