The ordinary life of Ernest Boubouroche - Ici ou Là Festival
Before his misfortune, Boubouroche was a good-natured bourgeois, quite happy and earning enough money. He is a good man, perhaps a little naive, exploited by his comrades for whom he constantly buys drinks, and cuckolded by his companion. That day, seated as usual at a café table, busy with his daily game of manille with his friends Potasse, Roth and Fouettard, the café waiter, Amédée, approaches him to reveal Adèle's betrayal.
Adèle is a woman he has been supporting for several years and around whom he has organized a very pleasant little life. They do not live together but visit her regularly. However, she lives with André, her lover, and their existence is punctuated by the doorbell that announces Boubouroche's visits. Indeed, as soon as the doorbell rings, André goes to hide in the wardrobe, a place where he has lived for eight years, in secret and in love. The lover is finally surprised, despite all the precautions taken and the explanation is inevitable. Boubouroche gets angry, threatens, storms but ends up crying in Adèle's apron, the latter having managed to turn the situation to her advantage.
