Regelmäßige Führung: In goldenem Licht
Italy, rich in art and culture with a mild climate, has attracted artists from northern countries for centuries. In the 17th century, many Dutch and Flemish artists traveled to Italy, especially Rome and the surrounding Campagna, to live and paint, such as Jan Both, Adam Pynacker, and Jan Asselijn. They organized themselves into communities, with the Roman Bentvueghels being the most renowned. Pieter Bodding van Laer, a member, formed the Bamboccianti group. Upon returning to the Netherlands, their Italian-inspired artworks stood out from the more austere northern landscapes. Cornelis van Poelenburgh painted Italian landscapes combined with mythological or biblical themes, influencing artists like Nicolaes Berchem. Their works, part of a Luxembourg private collection, are displayed here for the first time.
