Prokofiev, Ravel and Shostakovich off the beaten track.
In its first concert of the season, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra offers unusual works by three established composers. Maurice Ravel enchants the audience with a children's story, Sergei Prokofiev infuses his Symphony No. 3 with passages from one of his operas, never performed in his lifetime, and Dmitri Shostakovich surprises with a piano concerto that includes a trumpet solo, making it almost seem like a double concerto.
