The Bombyx collective brings together artists from the performing arts and visual arts. They combine their skills and efforts to create theater shows, performances, exhibitions, audiovisual works and interdisciplinary works.
On the occasion of their visit to neimënster, the collective continues their work on Norma Jeane Baker of Troy. What could Helen of Troy and Norma Jeane Baker, aka Marilyn Monroe, possibly have in common? These two female figures, famous throughout the world, have built an image, an illusion, to guarantee their survival.
The gods hide Helen in Egypt, while Paris removes a cloud that looks like her. Norma Jeane builds her own myth: Marilyn Monroe, a naive Hollywood star with platinum blonde hair. Are these two women then just illusions? In any case, they are objects of desire, triggering irrepressible desires for possession, wars. They are a precious commodity, a trophy. Royalty and show business have a similar mode of operation here, dictated by the dominant sex, and it is through these two legendary figures that Anne Carson tells us the story of all women.
This play is a tragedy, but as Marilyn said: "Keep the ball and dare not to worry."
