The collection "The Family of Man" comprises 503 photographs by 273 authors from 68 countries, assembled by Edward Steichen for the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA). First presented in 1955, the exhibition is intended as a manifesto for peace and the fundamental equality of men through post-war humanist photography. Images by authors such as Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorothea Lange, Robert Doisneau, August Sander, Ansel Adams, etc., are staged in a modernist and spectacular manner. After a journey around the world in more than 160 museums, the last complete version of the exhibition was permanently installed in 1994 at the Château de Clervaux. Since its creation, "The Family of Man" has attracted over 10 million visitors and thus enters the history of photography as a legendary exhibition. Since 2003, it has been part of the documents inscribed in the UNESCO Memory of the World register.
