In its current formation established in 2017, musicians from diverse backgrounds gathered around multi-instrumentalist Yannick Weiss (guitar, percussion, harmonica), recognized for his gravelly voice, to form the band "The Rusty Chair," which found its niche in music ranging from acoustic blues to rhythmic and melodic folk. The passionate musicians create a warm, sometimes intimate atmosphere, featuring typical melancholic blues and lively, festive tunes. They prefer small concert halls, clubs, and blues-rock oriented cafés and bars for their performances.
In 2019, the band released its first album "Rehearsal Sessions." Their repertoire varies from covers of well-known standards like Willie Dixon's legendary "Little Red Rooster" to original compositions. Musicians such as Tom Waits, Howlin' Wolf, La Rue Ketanou, and Louis Armstrong have influenced the band. Improvisation during concerts is essential, drawing inspiration from the venue and the audience where they perform.
