Heartfelt visit with Gilles Genot - Night of Museums
As in previous years, each museum offers a "favorite" visit. For this edition, seven external curators were invited to present their favorite work in one of the seven museums. The speakers familiarized themselves with the work of the museum in question beforehand, in order to draw inspiration from it for their presentation.
The Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart has welcomed Gilles Genot, curator at the Lëtzebuerg City Museum since 2019. A doctor in medieval history and a specialist in Luxembourgish history of the 15th and 16th centuries, he is what is known in German as Vereinsmensch. In this spirit, he has designed an exhibition on the Luxembourgish associative world. He has also directed exhibition projects on the contemporary reception of the Middle Ages, the figure of the Renaissance prince Pierre-Ernest de Mansfeld and, more recently, the cultural and societal issues related to translation – exploring both the diversity of languages and the “missing words”, for example that of Vereinsmensch for French speakers.
