For his new multimodal show Infamous Offspring, Belgian choreographer Wim Vandekeybus, associate artist at Théâtres de la Ville, whose audiences have seen the energetic TrapTown (2020) and Hands do not touch your precious Me (2022), returns to Greek mythology, family soap operas and archetypal tales about the dysfunctional family around the divine couple Zeus and Hera. Infamous Offspring is a fabric of stories centered on the figure of Hephaestus, god of fire and the forge, who is rejected by Zeus and Hera from birth, but it is also a fabric of artistic disciplines, which mixes dance, text, music and cinema. The supreme gods are embodied by musicians Warren Ellis and dancer Israel Galván, present in the form of film images that communicate with the stage. A fascinating mix of stories of jealousy, cruelty, exclusion and the desire for recognition.
