Schengen invites you to the traditional rooster festival, marking the end of the annual grape harvest!

The old custom of 'Hunnefeier' comes from the time when a living rooster was tied to the end of the row of vines to be harvested on the last day of grape picking. The winemaker who was the first to harvest his row and thus completed his grape harvest received this rooster as a reward for his speed. This somewhat barbaric custom has obviously been replaced by a new one: each year, a new limited edition of 'Schengener Hinnchen' (Schengen's rooster) is designed by a different artist. A terracotta rooster - an authentic and unique souvenir!

Once you have your 'Hinnchen' in your pocket, the flea and craft market with over 100 stalls, international street artists, a historic tractor exhibition, and musical entertainment await you. Of course, you can also taste the wines and Crémants, as well as the local 'Fiederwäissen' and 'Fiederrouden' to get a first taste of the new vintage.
