Lucilin in Concert - Sounding Stones
Stones hold many secrets: they bear witness to the passage of time, preserve primordial energy, and shape ancestral forms and rituals. The Sounding Stones program, specially designed by the musicians of the United Instruments of Lucilin ensemble to accompany the On the Rocks exhibition, offers a musical exploration of these mysterious and timeless aspects of stones.
The works presented focus on stone not only as a building material, but also as a source of artistic inspiration.
For Canto Llano, Eduardo Marturet was inspired by the vast landscapes of the high plateaus of Latin America and the musical traditions of the Andes. The piece is characterized by repetitive motifs and modern harmonies that create a meditative atmosphere. On the other side of the world, John Cage drew inspiration from the stone Zen garden of the Ryoanji temple in Kyoto to compose Ryoanji. A reflection on silence and chance, this piece leaves plenty of room for the interpretation of percussion instruments and the flute. Closer to the material, Camille Kerger integrates a stone instrument into her composition, echoing ancient rituals and their connection with natural elements. Finally, Dante Boon, a member of the Wandelweiser collective, will present a new meditative work composed for this concert, incorporating a stone harp exhibited during the exhibition.
