Never Fear (also known as The Young Lovers, USA 1950) is a film directed by Ida Lupino. It is screened in the original version with French subtitles (vostFR) and lasts 80 minutes, in 35 mm. The cast includes Sally Forest, Keefe Braselle and Hugh O'Brian. Carol dances in a duet with Guy, her boyfriend and the choreographer of their duo. When she contracts polio and is subjected to a rehabilitation process in a hospital, their union, both professionally and emotionally, is violently called into question. The film has an almost documentary dimension, inspired by a true story, shot on the scene and filming polio patients as extras. Lupino's relationship with reality announces the codes of American independent cinema. This literal defiance of the studio proves congruent with his morality as a filmmaker. More than surpassing oneself, it is sometimes about accepting one's limits.
