Some of you may have heard about the TV show: Lovecraft country, produced in 2020 on HBO. It is an American horror drama television series developed by the African American screenwriter, director, and producer Misha Green. The TV series is based on the 2016 novel written by Matt Ruff and stars Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors. The story follows Atticus Freeman as he embarks on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. He will struggle to survive and overcome racist laws and terrifying monsters. Lovecraft country has a lot of symbolism and subtext related to segregation, pop culture, and more. The TV series is also based on diverse literature, including HP Lovecraft's imaginary and "The Motorist Green Book," which was a guidebook for African American roadtrippers written by Victor Hugo Green. This book club will combine film references with books. You don't have to read them, but I suggest you find out what they contain. I also recommend you to watch the Lovecraft country series, as this will be the focus of our discussion...
